Walkthrough
Your objective in this quest is to make your way to the center of Gerard Dryden’s tomb and jot down the inscription on his sarcophagus (#10). Of course, you won’t be able to just walk straight to the sarcophagus. You’ll have to move counterclockwise around the crypt, opening up a series of gates (#3a, #6a, #8a, #9a) so that you can grab the
key to the inner crypts (#5), and then use the key to open up three locked rooms (#5a) so you can pull three levers (#4) and open up the gates (#4a) surrounding Gerard Dryden’s sarcophagus.
To complicate matters -- as if the above paragraph wasn’t complicated enough already -- as you move through the crypt, many of the regular sarcophagi will break open on their own, freeing the skeletons inside to attack you. There are two ways to deal with this. You can slowly and carefully break the sarcophagi with ranged attacks, and then fight the skeletons one at a time, or you can blunder through. The first method is the only way you’ll get a breakables bonus (since you won’t get credit for any breakables that open on their own), but it is much slower than the second method.
When you reach the inner sarcophagus, you’ll find that it’s guarded by several skeletons, plus Gerard Dryden’s ghast. When you destroy the ghast, the sarcophagus will shatter, allowing you to read the inscription inside of it. Reading the inscription will end the quest.
