The latest upgrade to our forum software now includes an "infraction" system. The system essentially allows moderators to provide warnings to members when they step out of line and break one of the established forum rules here on GameBanshee.
Each warning, or infraction, is worth a set number of points that will expire over a specific duration. Accumulating 50 infraction points causes your account to become suspended until your previous infractions begin to expire and bring you back below 50 points. Accumulating 100 infraction points causes your account to be permanently banned immediately, though it's a tough number to reach because you'd have to commit multiple offenses at the same time to jump from below 50 (since you're still able to post) all the way to 100+. Your user profile will always display any infractions that are currently tagged to your account.
The infraction system is currently set up as follows:
Vulgar Language (Minor) ----- 10 points ----- 7 Days
Flaming (Minor) ----- 10 points ----- 7 Days
Excessive Spamming ----- 15 points ----- 14 Days
Frivolous Posting ----- 15 points ----- 14 Days
Minor Infraction ----- 20 points ----- 14 Days
Vulgar Language (Major) ----- 25 points ----- 21 Days
Flaming (Major) ----- 30 points ----- 21 Days
Major Infraction ----- 40 points ----- 21 Days
Since the system is relatively new, it's possible that these infractions could see some small tweaks based on member or moderator feedback. If any changes are made, though, I will make a note of it within this announcement.
