Obsidian's Twitter feed is pointing to an eleven-part video on YouTube featuring Chris Avellone giving a lengthy "Script to Screen to Scream" presentation at the recent Framework Conference in Australia. In it, Chris briefly covers all the games he's worked on in the past before moving on to his current projects and sharing some great character design-related information.

Ha, for each game, he lists something about it. PS:T had "yay, gained 30 lbs, got heart trouble, Lead Designer".

I managed to sit through the first four of those, or most of the first four, and it confirms my belief that letting Avellone anywhere near KOTOR 2 was a monumental blunder. Imagine how much better the game may have been had the lead designer not been a Star Wars hater?

His prattling on about the main opposing protagonist, which he seems to be under the impression was Darth Nihilus, and how they built the character. Did they really spend so much time on a character that hardly impacts the game? No wonder they never finished it! Despite playing through the game a few times, I cannot recall evr seeing the scene he uses between DN and Visas once. Apart from him being responsible fro sending Visas after the protagonist, you only encounter him once when you kill him! Not much of a main protagonist for the player. Which isn't that bad as he never was the main protagonist in the game. Strange that the guy who claims to be the lead designer never realised that Krea was the main protagonist, or was that Nihilus in drag that you fight at the, almost, end?

Can't agree with you more here. Makes me wonder why LucasArts even agreed to put him in charge in the first place. Btw, don't you mean Kreia is the main antagonist? I thought the protagonists were supposed to be the good guys.

Personally i think that Kreia was a pretty well crafted character. Her backstory and motivations combine to make her one of the most convoluted baddies ive encountered in a game... and Avellone doesn't even give her a credible mention.

P.S Even Darth Sion had more personality than Nihilius imho

You're right Loki, it should have read antagonist. Kreia was indeed a well constructed arch-villain in many ways, but far too obvious for my liking. The first time I played the game I took an immediate disliking bordering on hatred for her before we even got off Peragus.
