Forbes has published an interesting article about both the current and future crop of MMORPGs, complete with profiles for ten of the most anticipated titles. Two mentioned:
Star Wars: The Old Republic
LucasArts/BioWare

Platform: PC

Due out: 2010

Expectations are running high for this epic role-playing game set in George Lucas' space fantasy world after Electronic Arts assigned one of its top studios, Bioware, to the project. So far gamers have seen nothing but a cinematic trailer and short demos at E3, but the pressure is on to avoid a repeat of the first Star Wars massively multiplayer game (MMO), which never quite lived up to expectations.

Unnamed Project
ZeniMax Online Studios

Platform: Not yet announced

Due out: Not yet announced

ZeniMax Media, parent of the publisher of popular games "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" and "Fallout 3," formed its MMO studio after receiving a $300 million investment from Providence Equity Partners in 2007. Few details have trickled out since then, though ZeniMax Online does say on its Web site that the company is gunning for the "current market leaders"--likely a nod to Activision's "World of Warcraft."

Disney drew sneers in 2007 when it paid $700 million for Club Penguin, a children's multiplayer game created by three unknown developers in British Columbia. It's free to play, but parents often cough up $6 a month to give their kids access to igloos, pets and other extras that function as status symbols for the game's mostly 6- to 14-year-old players.
Wonder if guys at Disney have ever heard of the term "in moderation".

Seriously, ZeniMax MMO? We don't know anything about it, not even who'll be working on it. Good Frith, that's a nonsensical listing.

APB, on the other hand, isn't. I'm massively interested in this game. Heck, I might actually play it, and considering I've always avoided MMOs like the plague that's saying something. It really looks great.
