Question about Sealed Tomb *SPOILERS

Post by sonny »

I entered this area in the Drowned Nations that on the map was called a Sealed Passageway. Had to go in with only TNO. After getting killed 3 or 4 times and being teleported around to different rooms and finding different items, I finally made it back to my party. So after thinking about what happened and reading my journal I have a few questions please.

1. My journal now says I have completed the quest to find my journal, but there is no journal in my inventory. Can I assume that the stone panels that had writings on them, were my journal?

2. Do I need to hang on to the 4 Tomb Keys I got in the tomb area.?

3. And while it's not related to this area, what's the deal with Ojo back in the Buried Village? Did I miss something?:speech:

Thanks :) Sonny

Yes.

I think it's safe to drop them on the floor or put them in a container right near the entrance. That's what I usually do.

Insane? Talking rats in walls? I don't know either, though I always figured he's just foreshadowing for the cranial rats (who I hope you met already), I've never found out what Ojo was for. He certainly isn't related to any quests, so in that sense you didn't miss anything

From peeking in the game files, you can find out that Ojo is actually talking to a wererat in the walls. There's also lines that imply that, if you betray the Drowned Nations to MAO, then the wererats go on a rampage killing or dragging off everyone in the Buried Village, with Ojo the only one left behind, and he most likely turns into a wererat during dialogue and attacks you. All of this was pulled from the game's release though. I'd have added it in as an Unfinished Business component if there were enough there to make it any more compelling than that.

You don't necessarily find out about his talking to rats, by the way, I think it requires a semi-decent charisma score to get that out of him.

Thanks, now it makes more sense. I did not betray the Dead Nations. I told Many-As-One that the King was to powerful, so I guess I won't have any more dealings with Ojo:laugh:

Doh, actually, I think that (telling MAO that SK was too powerful) was supposed to trigger the Buried Village invasion as well. Not that it matters in the actual game, really.

Apparently not. After telling MAO about the King being to strong, she/he said that my mind told her I was telling the truth and I was free to go, but should never return. After leaving MAO chambers, in the hall, the rats started attacking my party. Ran like hell to the enterance to the Weeping Stone catacombs.
Then went to the Dead Nations to sell some stuff to the merchant there and am now in the Buried Village and both places are normal (or as normal as can be :D )

Thanks again for the help :)

I think you missed the part where I said that everything I was describing had been -pulled from the game-. :)

Shame. I'd love to see little stuff like that back, not to mention the "Kidnapped Princess" quest originally intended for the Modron Cube. It's too bad if there's simply not enough left.

Well, I do restore a -lot- of stuff, the majority I'd say, in my Unfinished Business mod. I didn't bother with the Ojo thing because, well, it's a lot of work to remove a lot of content (the entire population of the village) for the sake of one 3-line dialogue and fight with Ojo. Really doesn't seem worth it. If there'd been any continuation, like you could go rescue some or all of the villagers, then it'd be worth it, but there isn't any such continuation.
not to mention the "Kidnapped Princess" quest originally intended for the Modron Cube.
First I've heard of it. Didn't notice any allusions to this in the game files. Do you know if some portion of this does still exist in game, or is this only something mentioned in an interview or something?

Not a problem.

One question for you, though. Are you playing with my Fixpack? If not, no problem, I'm just wondering cause this:
After leaving MAO chambers, in the hall, the rats started attacking my party.
... is something that my Fixpack was supposed to fix, but I'm not entirely sure that that worked properly. If you are using my Fixpack (note, not Platter's Fixpack) then that would confirm that there's still a problem.

No, I'm only using the Platters Fixpack 1.37.

I would like to be using your 3 mods, but (I'm really embarrassed about this :o ) I just could not get WinRAR to work. I was able to download it, and download your mods from SHS, but after that I was just lost. Hell, as I said in my post (Need Big Time Help) I could not even get the G3 Tweak Pack to work.

So I just thought, that since the game was working, I would play through and then when my grandson gets home, let him show me how to use WinRAR. By that time I will be ready to play this great game a second time. You don't know how nerve racking it is, sitting here playing and hoping I don't hit any major bugs.:speech:

It's to late to change it now, but if I had not waited until I was 62 years old to sit down in front of a PC, Oh well, all I can do is keep trying to teach this old dog new tricks and hope the game don't crash

Thanks have a great evening :)

I know, I'm not complaining, it's a cool mod.
Qwinn wrote:First I've heard of it. Didn't notice any allusions to this in the game files. Do you know if some portion of this does still exist in game, or is this only something mentioned in an interview or something
It's only mentioned in an interview. To be more exact, Chris Avellone mentioned it when I interviewed him for RPGWatch:
RPGWatch: The farther you get into the game, the more rushed it feels, especially on the prison plane. How much rush was there behind the project and how did you pick what you wanted to cut or leave unfinished?

Chris Avellone: There was urgency toward the end of the product, and the version of Curst you played through was actually the second revision of that plane (the original felt like it needed the iteration, so Adam Heine, Colin, and Scott Warner all tackled it).

I also wanted a lot more going on in the Fortress of Regrets (I don’t like the opening map’s challenge to this day), but I'm actually impressed with the amount of companion scripted sequences that took place at the end. Hendee, Jake DeVore, and Spitzley did a lot of work to make that ending happen, and I am thankful to this day.

Of all the things that were cut, however, I feel the most sad about a quest that was supposed to occur in the Modron Cube – this quest was one where either Fall-From-Grace or Annah would get kidnapped by the evil wizard in the maze once you entered it. The cool part that amused me was aside from mocking the save-the-princess cliche, we recorded some funny dialogue for Fall-From-Grace where she's delighted and excited by the whole thing, since this is her first time being kidnapped, ever.

Annah has a slightly less-than-pleased reaction, but the Fall-From-Grace one still makes me smile.
He also sent me a sound file with a line from Fall-From-Grace upon being kidnapped.

If you're interested, I could ask MCA if he happens to have kept more material of it (dialogue files, or the like) and possible you could restore it from that? As he mentions, from all the cut content this is the bit he feels saddest about, I think he'd love to see it restored.

Oh, abso-freakin'-lutely, please do, that sounds awesome and it'd be a pleasure to restore it to the game.
