Try Thief series... but don't go back too much in time though. Also, try Hitman 2 and Hitman: Contracts. These are action-adventure, you won't gain experience but they are great games. Bloodlines without the xp making and without all the scary monsters...

I would have liked to really realize that the driver is Caine, but Troika doesn't give you that impression the first time you finish the game.
