Rather than posting all new threads when someone famous dies (they seem to be dropping like flies lately) I’ve made this topic. From now on we can just look here instead. So R.I.P. Milton Berle 93, Billy Wilder 95, Duddley Moore 66, and Randy Castillo 51.
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Hey it could be! We can celebrate the lives of dearly departed, remembering all the good times they've given us, etc. Laughing and crying, life and death. This has got to be the most emotionally powerful thread ever (as long as it stays reasonably on topic).Originally posted by Rob-hin

Personally, I'd still rather post separate topics for people who die. I don't want to recognize a cemetary; I want to acknowledge an individual. Do what you will, but so will I.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
Ah, so you're focusing more on a wake for the respected dead rather than the obits themselves. That's fine. I just felt there've been a lot of these death threads and that it would help to condense them a bit (especially since there have been a number of celebrity deaths recently). I guess I'm just a coldhearted pragmatist lacking in sentiment.Originally posted by fable

Exactly. It's not the facts that matter to me, but the effects they've had on the people they've touched. That sounds a lot more squishy than I would have liked.

Aww, you sound just like a care bear fable. (You can be Deathbear). Back on topic, here are some obit links (not that I'm morbid or anything).Originally posted by fable

Thor Heyerdahl died? The same man who did the Ra II and Kon Tiki voyages...from Africa to North America? The same guy who attempted to make a different theory from the Beringia Land Bridge one?

Thor's been dead for six months now. It was fairly well publicized. I guess you just missed it.
