I must be completely stupid, but I can't seem to get my wizard to 'learn' spells. Can I get someone to tell me how like a two-year-old? :)

Read Magic - which is a cantrip (level 0 spell) allows you to read scrolls.

learning spells

this got me too. highlight your wizard, and pull up his radial menu. select the hand icon, and it will pull up a list of abilities. One of these is "copy spell". highlight this, then highlight the scroll you wish to copy to your book. P.S. the scrolls must be identified

sorry to bump this...

I recently purchased the game and I am unable to see the "copy spell" option under the hand within my Wizard's radial menu. Is some feat or skill required to do this as in the manual it says "Wizards can also copy scrolls into their spell books." yet is does not say how. My wizard is a level 2 wizard with what seems the required skills etc...

Thanks!

Look under the radial wheel with the picture of the body. That is where the copy scroll function is. I did not find it until lvl 5.

The full guide:

Step 0: Your Wizard must have the skill spellcraft
Step 1: Put scroll in inventory of Wizard
Step 2: Identify scroll through casting of a Read Magic spell.* Step 3: Go through your radial menu and select "copy scroll". Your spellcraft skill determines chance of success. Failure means you ahve to wait till next level before you can try and copy the scroll again.

*: NOTE: The spell you have then identified must be a Wizard spell: No Cure serious wounds for the wizard. Check the in game help utility what spells are considered wizard spells.
