make a gnomish illusionist/thief multi class...

or just do this evil and naughty thing to jan... :p :p :p

ok, make a illusionist/thief, then open up shadowkeeper...

on the first screen are the levels for both classes near the bottom, set both to zero...

on the second screen you'll see

thief/illusionist for class and

"none"

for kit, change to wild mage...

that's it!!! :p :p :p

;) ;) ;)

you can also use the identical procedure to make imoen into a wildmage thief dual class...

or make jan into assassin thief...

or jan into a paladin...

Jan: Yes!!! I wanna be a paladin!!

pc stuffs turnip in jan's mouth...

pc: DON'T YOU DARE!!! last time you sang that song, we nearly got lynched by the Order of the Radient Heart!!! :p :p :p

but its pretty easy to apply mage kit or thief kit to any mage/thief multi or dual class...

urm..typo, the kit will already be set to illusionist, just change to
"wildmage"....

but you would have figured it out anyway...the important thing is to roll both classes back to zero, so the 2da definition adds nrd, and chaos shield spells... :D

Hahaha Jan the paladin.
I'll think i just keep him the way he is. The best damn thief in the game. (why o why did they dual imoen? (or Nalia at level 4 or something))

Think I'm gonna try a regular wildmage again, but thistime with a heavy spellcasting party:
Wildmage, Edwin, Jan, Korgan, Viconia.

Is there any mod that prefents evil party members from leaving once your reputation gets to high? (IIRC Easy to use did something like that but I'm not sure)

Hey User. I tried turning Imoen into a thief/wildmage dual and it worked fine except that she didn't get the extra spell slot. She hade her normal spell table. It seems to be like that if you dual into a mage kit the game doesn't count you as a specialist. Have you got a solution for that?
I wonder why the dualed imoen at all, to make room for yoshimo perhaps.

I concur, Imoen should have stayed a thief.

Happy Party prevents the character incompatibilities and rep effects (actually, the ring of Human influence will prevent evils leaving at high rep, IIRC) - I believe it's included in Ease of Use, as you said.

The biggest problem I'm having with mixed good & evil is that Viconia keeps turning our paladin  , and undead pets sometimes (which makes them go hostile after
I have given up all lesser evils as inadequate to my purpose.

the only way is to make immy an elf, with elf avatar...

its a bug...dual classes do not get the extra spells...

but, a multiclass does, even if you make aerie into a priest of lathander/mage, she gets the extra spell slots as if she was a cleric/conjuror...

jan the paladin...

Jan Jansen: Oh, woe is me, I hate my life! Bugger this pitiful life of mine, as a thief-illusionist! Sod it! I want to be a....a....Paladin!

Jan Jansen: Oh, I'm a Paladin, and I'm okay,
I snore all night and I smite all day.

Shadow Thieves: He's a Paladin, and he's okay,
He snores all night and he smites all day.

Jan Jansen: I smite stinky orcs, I eat my lunch,
I go to the Outhouse.
If I'm out in the wide wilderness,
I just use a furry mouse.

Shadow Thieves: He smites stinky orcs, he eats his lunch,
He goes to the Outhouse.
If he's out in the wide wilderness,
He just uses a furry mouse.

Jan Jansen: I smite stinky orcs, I skip and jump,
I like to polish my stuff.
I put on ladies's clothing,
And watch other knights scream and huff.

Shadow Thieves: He smites stinky orcs, he skips and jumps,
He likes to polish his stuff.
He puts on women's clothing
And watch other knights scream and huff???????

Jan Jansen: I smite stinky orcs, I wear high heels,
knickers and a bra.
I wish I'd been a girlie
Just like my dear papa.

Shadow Thieves: He smites stinky orcs, he wears high heels
Knickers and a .... a Bra????

sounds like you're running a script...its actually harder to have clerics turn undead without using a script since any damage disrupts her turn undead... :p

I allways thought that a single class theif in BG2 would have sucked, being able to get around level 40 with ToB instaleld would mean they had a ton of skill points, i mean after youve maxed find traps and lockpicking they dont seem to have any real use to me.

Detect illusion seems semi-worthless, as the only time i can think of it being usefull is in combat, where true site would work just as well / better. Saying that it may be the only way to dispell improved invisibility and spell immunity divination (or whatever they call it).

Hide in shadows is ok, but cant be used in combat.... as for move silently.. did this actually ever do anything at all? Backstabbing seemed kind of cheap to me, legitimate if there were a large group of creatures and one was out of sight of the others (seemed a fair use). But failing that i didnt think it was all too fair, but thats not the prob i see with theives.

Pickpocketing was too risky anyway, only people worth stealing from were people you really didnt want to fight, i didnt like BG's way of dealing with stealing or attacking "if i go hostile for any other reason then i attacked you, every single man, woman, child and animal will also go hostile and attack / never speak to you causing the game to effectivly be screwed".

And as for traps, rarely did you need to defend a point, they were more used for insta-kill cheese on large non hostile enemies. I mean would you let a bunch of people walk up to you, put a bunch of large pointy killing divices pointed at you all around you, then all stand behind you with a dagger pointed at your back?

Simply put the skill points were too easilly maxed, and i didnt see the need for some (maybe thats why all the kits were better then a normal theif). Immy being a theif mage is kinda nice, shes got max in lockpicking and with theif items she can get max / pretty good in find traps without needing potions.
What goes around's been around.

Hide in shadows will help you hide, move silently will help you stay hidden. You need both if you are going to be able to scout around. I think stealth is a supreme ability. It means you almost always strike first and that is important.
I couldn't agree more on the pickpocketing thing. If you fail you really have to reaload and that takes the fun out of it.
And it is not very consistent either. From some shops you can walk out with everything they had and they don't notice. You'd have to be pretty good at distracting someone to steal 20 suits of armor without them noticing it.
Anyway detect illusion is awesome cause it can be on while you are fighting and dispelling enemy illusions as they come up.
To me a thief dualed at level 10 can have enough skills for ToB but Imoen is dualed at level 7 and it is a bit low really. But you are right, a halfling swashbuckler level 40 has skillpoints to spare :D
Btw, halfling swashbuckler are cool solocharacters. You can sneak through most encounters.

hide in shadows lets you enter the shadows, but move silently determines how quickly you can reenter shadows after a backstab...i think if you use a thief script, move silently allows you to make multiple backstabs per round, backstabbing, and reentering shadows almost immediately, making assassins uber nasty...plus the cloak of non detection won't protect you from true sight with a spell, but will protect you hidden in shadows...

detect illusion can go right thru spell immunity divination, making it invaluable for tactics mod... :p :p :p

Are you sure about that user? About move silently determining how soon you can hide again? Usually you can pull of two backstabs on blue (soon to be enemies) before they go red by hiding straight away as you connect with your first hit. I have never seen a correlation between move silently and this. IMHO hide determines if you can hide and move silently determines how long you'll stay hidden. Put alot of points in hide and you will almost always succed when trying to hide. However if you dont have any points in move silently you'll get the message leaving shadows very soon.
