Fellow gamers. I am at the 24th level in gothic 4, and I think I messed up. I cannot complete the game and am stuck by the city that I can't get in. I can't go back through the jungle and the gorges because of the ledge with the monk by it. It is too high. I just kept pushing south not realizing things have to be done in order. I killed the eye patch guy and the worm queen but a gate bars any further progress. I have a saved game from 14th level but I refuse to go back and start almost over. Maybe there is a teleporter I haven't found or a way to complete this game.
Thank You,
Haleabus
Help Me Please!!! Gothic 4
I just finished this game myself.. mediocre.
Anyway, what (and where) *precisely* is the problem?
Here are maps to use as references:
ArcaniA: Gothic 4 - Argaan Map & All Collectibles - JoWooD Entertainment AG Forum
Which city can't you get in to (..presumably the northern most one)?..

gothic 4 problem
Scottg,
Thanks for responding. I am by the city of Setariff and they won't let me in. I tried the temple ruins but am blocked by bars at the end (no door just bars). I pass by the machine that makes fireballs etc, but cannot find a way to Thorniara. I tried to back track through the jungle and black gorges to try to get back to the monastery, but there is a ledge with a monk by it that I cannot jump to. My ultimate problem is I cannot get to Thorniara even after finding the anvil and killing the one eyed thief and beetle queen. There is also a door that the thief makes me traverse (fire) with a lever at the end, but the door on the other side is locked and I can see activity in the room (fireballs). I hate to do Tooshtoo all over again at level 14 because I am 24 level. Thanks.
Michael

Setariff is the one in front of the refugee camp (behind the closed gate) - you can't go to it ever.mtl1969 wrote:Scottg,

You get to Thorniara by going through all of the second temple and beyond. (..and you can see it in the tunnels on the map with tunnels.) This is the same temple + as the the one with the eye-patch guy, the "queen", and the anvil.
Precisely *where* are you barred from progressing AFTER the anvil? (..look at both your mini-map and also your full map.)
BTW, be careful about crafting one of the 4 artifact weapons from the anvil.. in Thorniara you should steal some upgrade recipes for those weapons that make a *BIG* difference in their capability.. AND you can only craft ONE WEAPON (because there is only one soul stone). For instance the "mage" weapon of choice is the one-handed sword, but it doesn't appear that way until after you get the upgrade recipe. (..and in fact it may be the weapon of choice for a melee'er as well..)

Scottg,
After I killed the queen I proceeded north and came to an outlet to the right which ended up being a dead (a cliff) end so I went back and out the second exit which brings me to two mini temples with purplish torches. The mini temple on the left is a dead end with rubble but the one on the right leads me to the fireball machine and ultimately to the large barred opening at the top of the stairs where I can't go any further. This is not a gate with a door and key, it just plain wont open. I also hear someone laughing in this area but I don't know where it is coming from. Thanks.

Then you haven't gotten to the anvil. That's Xesha's chamber, just beyond it is the anvil/forge with the divine hammer.mtl1969 wrote:Scottg,

Large barred opening?
I'm assuming you have passed beyond the second fireball machine (..there are two in a row), just beyond that confronted a barred door, gotten the key to the barred door from a chest in a chamber just to the right of the barred door, and finally opened the barred door and moved up the stairs and killed the frost golem on the "stair landing", and finally moved up the second flight of stairs to Xesha's chamber but can't seem to get in? Correct? (..it should be open at the top with a winged blue "demon" to "talk" to.)
IF that is correct then the only thing I can think of is either:
1. a bug.
2. you haven't gotten permission/blessing from the monastery just before the black gorge.
If it's 2 "just" go back to the monastery from the way you came in, get the quest, and travel back. If it's 1.. then you need to load a previously saved game and try it again (..presumably with a fully patched game).
Hoof it back the way you came.mtl1969 wrote:How do you get back to the monastery?
Note that you don't have to go back through the 1st temple (the southern one in the jungle).. just jump off the bridge that leads to it's exit (..the one near the bluff by the ocean and wreaked ships) and head south through the jungle. Go all the way through Black Gorges until you get to the top mountain on the south-side of the Gorges. Hang a left to go further up the mountain to get to the monastery. (..if you hang a right you are just heading back across the bridge to Tooshoo.) Note that when you come back that you will need to go through the 1st temple again.
Again, take a look at the maps I provided a link to.
Thanks for your help Scottg. You are right, this game is mediocre, and I dislike it immensely, but I cannot stand to get so far just to be denied. I also did reach the anvil because I talked with the blue demon and in my quest book it tells me to head to Thoniara. I am going to try to get back to the monastery.

IF you reached the anvil and have picked up the divine hammer and all the other ore pieces and chests with recipes then you should be able to proceed down the stairs from the anvil room. (..note there is a "cut-scene" sequence that starts the first time you enter the anvil room that "explains" the rather poor "plot".)mtl1969 wrote:Thanks for your help Scottg. There is only that one exit down from the anvil room, and it basically has your character sliding down a mountain crevice. You'll end-up in one more short tunnel/mine, and at the end of that you get to the outskirts of Thorniara.
