Yaay...let's hear it for Prince :D I wouldn't have figured you for it Sleepy, but I love Prince too...I guess that is all the information I need to know that you would too :o ;) *sings* 'How could you leave me standing? Alone in the world, so cold....Maybe I'm just too demanding, maybe I'm just like my father - too bold...' :)

Anyway, how are we all today?

I am just back from Reading, after a frantic day of -
Vex Red
The Hives
Ash
Muse
Foo Fighters

I lost my shoes :(

No, they were old leather trainers....they got pulled off in the Ash moshpit while crowdsurfing :( ...Which was fine, they were old and battered and too small and not very expensive...it's just that I had to go throght the Muse mosh pit in only socks    . Anyone who was there (is Kam at Reading?) or who has seen muse before will know that this was a silly idea...silly silly. :D

The Hives were great...although their music is not exactly my bag, I can see that they are improving slowly, and have a lot of potential...however, they put on a fantastc show...the singer is an incredibly charismatic guy, and very funny...They were too quiet as well though :( .

Foo Fighters were headlining, but they were completely upstaged by Muse (second billing), who were absolutely amazing  :)

They must only be big in the UK, as I have never heard of any of those songs.....Thats common. Sometimes certain bands have a tough time importing their cultural influence to other countries.

Yes, true. I am sometimes surprised at how different British and American musical fashions and tastes are...but I must confess, I do not know if Muse have 'broken' the Us yet or not...

Unfortunetly, when the school year starts I wont really be around at this time, and if I am, that means Im either cutting class, or Im on the internet while in class. :D Ill be on in the afternoon most days, I think-which would be the equivalent to the evening in the UK.

Well an early happy B-day, then. I wouldnt be horribly surprised if someone sets up a B-day thread for you tomorrow. :D  My school year starts this coming Tuesday, and classes resume on Wednesday. You guys get school uniforms? Thats kind of bad, but aslong as its somewhat appealing, I guess its acceptable. :D Indeed. Work is evil or the epitomy of it. :D Looking forward to the new school year?

Yeah...I normally log on at about seven o clock (GMT) during the school year, so I guess the early afternnon to you :) .

Yeah, the school uniform is: Black trousers, black shoes, white shirt (with collar) and red jumper with school logo embroidered on it. However, they cannot really force kids to wearthe jumper all the time (i.e it may be too hot), so even in winter most kids would rather just get cold than wear the school jumper, so everyone just wears the white shirt  . Also, they say 'a tie is optional', and they do not specify what coat or jacket you wear...so my uniform consists of:

White laces on black boots with white stitching and black corduroy trousers and a white shirt and a black silk neck tie and white buttons on a black corduroy jacket...

EDIT - and maybe the patchwork coat I am making at the moment. It is the most preposterous coat in the whole world. It would embarass Henry IIX. It is so mad you wouldn't believe it...but it is my duty, as I have a reputation at school for wearing ridiculous jackets, and I feel it would be sad to let my classmates down...

I didn't really do any work for the whole of last year apart from coursework, which is necessary for grades. This year however, everything we do is necessary for grades, so it looks like I will be working hard, sadly :( ...

7:00 is equal to 2:00 here.....hmmmm I will probably be here for maybe an hour for that, except on Tuesdays, thats when Ive got Chemistry Lab for 3 hours. 1:30-4:30.

Looks like everyone has their ways on trying to be an individual, even if they give uniforms.

You know, in the years that were crucial for me to start truly getting my grades up, it really didnt motivate me enough to really work as hard. When I had years that my social life was going very well, that seemed to be the catalyst to making my grades rise. My social life and academic life seem to be inter-twined and if one goes down the crapper, usually the other falls aswell, though if I struggle academically, it only slightly depreciates my social life. Not sure why that is, though. My passive nature also doesnt help me get work done. Now, waiting to the last minute, that gets my work done-thats the motivation I need! :D

*sips beer*

Did you have to wear a uniform at high school?
I am in favour of uniform in general...I thoroughly support its function of reducing the bullying etc at school...although it sounds trivial, it is very important. There is absolutely zero bullying based on the clothes people wear at my school, which is very important, and very positive...but I do not appreciate the way that uniform is sometimes used to automatise students...to rid them of their personalities as much as possible, to make things easier for teachers. No good will come of that :(

Ive never been to any school that required uniforms. I mean there have been certain types of clothes we cant wear, like T-shirts with inapropriote pictures on it, and we couldnt be like almost nude or completely nude, obviously :D , but everything else was fine. There was some bullying, and me included in my sophomore year of high school, but I dont think any of it derived from clothing. I mean the fights I instigated or those who instaged fights against me had nothing to do with clothes. I wasnt a really bad bully at school that year, as I only once was summoned to an office, and that little tangle was hardly my fault, but a window broke, so everyone involved got in a bit of trouble. After that incident and after I started losing friends, my bullying days were over and since then, Ive been considered one of the most passive and friendly people at school. Dont know why I got into bullying in the first place....I think I was frustrated with my social life... But the community was good and civil, with only 4 or 5 real trouble makers. And for a BIG high school, the numbers looked really good.

@Dottie, what are you doing?

People using stealth so that they're not here, and then posting is creepy enough...but someone just sitting here, not posting is just frightening!

*taps on Dottie's forehead* Heelllooo :)

Since I recall we agreed on not making new threads for birthdays, I post this here:

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Frogus. :) Have a good one, man. Image

BTW-When did we decide not making Birthday threads? I think they are great. Its where everyone shows a bit of friendship to fellow SYMers on their day. Why should it be degenerated into non-threads?
