Wolverine Vs. Gambit

Post by RandomThug »

This interteam marvel battle has always been a debate between me and my cohorts. While I have always been the one defending the all powerful and suave Gambit, the others have been in favor of the canuck wolviepie. Now I know Logans one bad mutha, but in considering the facts of gambits powers (Ability to lets say grab wolvies spandex turning it into a small bomb (wolvie better strip quick) or better when wolvie had the adamentium **NOT SURE IF STILL DOES** he could have even charged that while he got sporked by wolvie... then blow up wolvirine to HELL.

My point is gambits powers are underrated while wolverines are completly over rated. Who would win in your mind?

Wolverine the Canuck with the attidue.

Or Gambit the sweet talkin cajun

I thought of this one too, wolvie can't win, gambit'd just energize himself as a suicide action but gambit'd die too.

In hand-to-hand combat wolvie would win, in longe range too (due to his agility, reflexes and hunting skills).

Gambit would probably win, considering the "shirt bomb" technique. But, Wolvie is still pretty much indestructable. Even if Gambit could kill Wolvie, he'd probably get killed himself in the process.

I'd give it a draw (they both die).

Well if its only those 2 then Id have to say Gambit.

But there are several X-men heroes and villians I like more than either of them....

Among a few others-
(phalanx, strife, pyro....-couldnt find pictures for...)
“Caw, Caw!” The call of the wild calls you. Are you listening? Do you dare challenge their power? Do you dare invade? Nature will always triumph in the end.

I prefer the more "dark" heroes, like Spawn (Todd McFarlane, not Marvel). I haven't been updated on the Marvel universe for about 7 years, so I really don't know what heroes now remain or which have been added.

Dark? DARK

Gambits all the dark I need. He commited (small sure but it is) genocide on a race of mutants. He was banished by the Xmen for such crime and left out in antartica by his once love rouge.

In his youth he killed his wifes brother to be banished from the Assassins/thieves guild... his whole life is a clustered mystery that has more twists and turns than most others..

And also to debate his fighting skills, it is said he has Mutant abilities of agility and strength and pyscic abilities. In a one on one fight with wolvie he could manipulate him in many ways (his charm) keep himself safe and out of harms way with his agility (I aint gonna say he can physically punch harder than wolvie, but say he exites the atoms in the air right before his first hits wolvies face... in a previus comic this such act sent wolvie ten feet up (like a boost) imagine it being used in each punch/kick.

Gambit ROCKS

Gambit. Last I checked, Magneto ripped the adamantium out of wolvies body, and thus the biggest advatage my fellow Canuck had. I'm all for the "shirt Bomb" tactic too... :D

Molucles

According to my reading Gambit can do such things as excite the molucles in such things as air, stones, tree's, gum, cards.. who says he cant charge up Wolvies claws (bone)

yeah the shirt bomb has always been something I wanted him to do. There is acutally one comic where he is tied up by i believe mr sinister...while chewing gum. What he does is charge up the gum in his mouth, when he is being talked to by sinister he spews forth the gum in his face.. Boom.

I mean come on thats bad ass stuff. Im so glad you guys agree with me on this subject... first... time.... ever.

wait wait wait, slow down a sec. If wolverine had his bones ripped out, wouldn't he have died, or been a very floppy hero?

Im all for gambit here to, just cuz throwing exploding cards and his cool cajuness make him great.

no, his bones were left...magneto just ripped the metal coating off. and afterwards, wolverine discovered that he had these claws all along, just never knew about them

Note: Wolvie has since had the admantium returned to him (And you’ve got to be one tough mother f****r to survive getting your skeleton ripped out).

As for who would win in a fight, like all comics, it depends on who’s writing. Batman can beat Superman if the writer thinks the story is better that way. Wolvie and Gambit have fought each other before, and both have had their share of victories and defeats. But let’s look at the stats of each character (taken from Marvel's Offical Site). Image

Wolverine
Real name: James Howlet (AKA Logan)
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 195 lb.
Intelligence 4
Strength 4
Speed 2
Durability 5
Agility 4
Reflexes 4
Fighting Skills 8
Powers: Wolverine has a healing factor that can heal virtually any wound or disease, and also slows his aging. He has retractable bone claws that extrude from his forearms. His bones and claws are bonded with a metal called adamantium, rendering them unbreakable and enabling the claws to slice through virtually anything. Wolverine also has highly acute senses and over a century of fighting experience.

Gambit
Real name: Remy LeBeau
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 175 lb.
Intelligence 3
Strength 2
Speed 2
Durability 2
Agility 3
Reflexes 3
Fighting Skills 4
Powers: Through physical contact, Gambit can convert an object's potential energy into kinetic energy. He also has enhanced reflexes and agility, and possibly some subtle telepathy. He is an accomplished thief, well trained in the martial arts.

Going by their official stats, Wolvie beats Gambit in almost every category except speed, where they’re tied (don’t blame me, these are Marvels official stats). Image Wolvie was born in the late 1880’s and has fought in both World Wars, been trained by the C.I.A. and learned the Martial Arts from a master in Japan. Gambit’s kinetic charging ability is powerful yes, but I don’t think it really evens things out. He really doesn’t come close to Wolvie in experience, fighting skill, or nigh invulnerability (Wolverine's been dropped off of sky scrappers, attacked by hundreds of ninjas with automatic weapons, and had his skeleton ripped out, to name but a few of his encounters). Image

Of course what I said about victory being determined by the writer still applies. Jubilee has beaten Sabretooth once because of story needs. So there's no right or wrong answer on who's tougher (though I still think that Wolvie has a lot more going for him in a brawl).

I like both characters a lot, and would hate to see one done in by the other.

Since Logan got his adamantium back...

...I go for shorty.

Sure, Gambit's moves are way too cool, bit IMO he has to make contact with Logan just to make his undies explode...

...however, think that Logan is too clever and battle-tested to allow that. ;)

bah humbug

Bah on the stats from marvel, those are off cards for a game... Like it was said before its all about the story. I believe gambits victory would be a better story, given Wolvies over all accepted "im tougher than you are" policy. Wolvies tough but so is gambit, sure not NEAR as well trained. But both got that little edge over each other... ifit was straight combat sure wolvie would win, butcha gota factor in gambits mutant abilities... and how he can use his charming abilities to distract wolvie for just that needed moment to make that hairy bastards entire hair folucles explode causing immense pain from the blown skin.. haha
