Okay, I've killed all the hook horrors, I've killed the fire beetles, the shambler, the jelly's, the war-bears, the umber hulks, the trolls, the spectre, ...EVERYTHING. And yet, when I speak to Barud, he asks if I've cleared the caves of all monsters and my only response options are all negative. ...Frustrating!!! Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd really like to get his reward for this task before moving on and slaughtering him and the rest of the Duergar Outpost ; )
I've even opened up the Raven Gate and checked for monsters on the other side. Please HELP!!!

First off, only the monsters in the first cave area count (i.e. the umber hulks and Beastlord Harshom's buddies do not). The specter doesn't count either. This should save you some search time.
Make sure you have beaten the Hook Horror Matriarch and her kin by moving to the very end of the egg room, because this triggers their appearance (but I assume you've done this already). If you've done this, the problem is most likely a stray fire beetle - they are small, fast and easy to miss. Go back to the start of the caves (where you entered) and then work your way east, carefully checking the pens one by one - moving through all possible groundspace just in case you missed a trigger. Keep in mind you do not have to check the duergar outpost proper. If there is still nothing, do it again just to make sure. If there still isn't anything, then I really don't know how to help you.

Also, unless you have already, you may need to download the patch. Apparently, alot of versions have an error when you are doing that quest where the response for clearing the caves cannot be accessed. This is just in case you have cleared EVERY SINGLE CREATURE REQUIRED out of the river caves and have not downloaded the patch.
