I would say thats great if you can trust your players but from what the opening post stated, some of these players either didnt listen to the way they were supposed to do the PC creation process, or they just didnt care and went about it their own way. So, they are not showing that they are trust ...

I thought it was Blackstaff as well but dark staff is close i suppose. I alos voted for Khelben. Love the Waterddep area.

Its going to be rough ride no matter what happens, especially if they are making charcters to hurt each other already.
I have never been in this type of a situation, The only time i have ever had people in a group that were invlolved with each other were married, or it was me and my gal at the time.

If your starting off at 1st lvl, you have aways to go before you will get any spells. You may have spell like abilities from your class but the real spells dont come into play until at least 4th lvl or most likely, 6th lvl.
But once you get splells, read magic is a must...very helpful in many ways ...

I used to DM a lot back in 2nd ed and would never let the players roll up their characters without me being there to suoervise.
I know this may be a bit harsh on the whole group but i would say to start over completely with first lvl characters for all and have them do it all together. Have one ...

There are a few solo D20, not specificly DnD, adventures out there that can give you an idea of what the game is like...they are more like the old which way books or choose your fate books.

I just beat the wraith and his band of orc.
And as i was leaving that room, it said the was a scent of jasmine coming from the room in the NE.
I dont seem to be able to get into that room or that area.
