you cant choose kensai when multiclassing? All you get is the original fighter class. Fighter/Thief Fighter/Mage and so on...have I missed something?

Ok, so I made an human kensai with 14, 18, 14, 13, 8, 18 and gained a lvl, and I cant dual??......why? shouldnt I be able to dual thief or something?

the very FIRST lvl up you get? You start as lvl7, but it doesnt matter? or in the character creation process?
