hey, can you join a normal difficulty game after completing the game on normal mode and entering nightmare mode?

i am unable to install the patches as the system i am playing on does not have the internet. is this my problem?

I cant seem to buy mana pots from akara or lysander in the single player game and i have just completed act 1. is this normal or is something wrong?? thx for the help!
