if the door isn't locked and you can go through it, just approach it. it should get targeted (blue outline) and you press the A button to go through. if it's locked and you're sure you want to go in, you can try to pick the lock if you have enough guile or you can just bash it down with your fists ...

if you want to go back to slim, all you can do is keep playing. you'll be back in shape after some time.

if you're so inclined, grey house is a great place to level fairly early in the game. Armed with physical shield and plenty of mana potions, it's easy to get 500k+ experience in one go. did you know you can punch back the rocks the trolls throw at you? if you land a hit, it does quite a lot of damage. I've done up to 1400 damage from one returned rock. I'm not sure if your stats factor in to this, but I had maxed stats when I did it. You also get skill points for it. I don't know ...

Did anyone else feel that aging in the game is strange? Only because you're the only one that ages. Your older sister never gets older, nor do any of the townspeople or your wives (maybe we should be thankful for that). It's like everyone besides you is immortal. How depressing =P
