do u have to gop through the whole credits so u can keep the sword cuz i keep skipping it and then i go back to the main menu and then i have to fight jack again

rite at the very end after ive defeated jack and chosen to keep the sword, the credits come up, then it goes back to the begining menu were u chose to start a new game or continue, i chose continue, then it takes me back to the hero guild rite before i go in to fight jack, ive defeated him several ...
