but what would be a good LA? i was originally thinking either +4 or +6.
In order to balance out the LA, you need to get an understanding of exactly what it is, as Aegis highlighted in his post.

What is LA?

LA is specifically set for those monsters that can be played as ...
My present character is a dwarf fighter6/ranger1/dwarven defender4 called Sarach. His entire family (and community) were wiped out by giants, so he's been trashing them ever since (favored enemy giant and with a giant bane dwarven waraxe). He's not the most powerful of hitters ...

As a monster, it's not too bad. My single biggest criticism would be the ability modifiers. They really suck IMO. Way too low. The astral armor sounds cool (how does it work, exactly, and why isn't it included in its special qualities?). The HD, on the other hand, are probably slighty too high. I ...
What would happen if a Sorcerer wanted to take a couple levels as a Wizard?
I don't really see this as an effective combination. You'd be giving up a lot in the way of spell progression, for no gain whatsoever IMHO. At lower levels, the sorcerer can already cast a lot of ...

As Aramant said - a ghost touch weapon is your friend againt incorporeal creatures.

Also, check out Libris Mortis . There's a bunch of new spells such as ghost touch armor (2nd level divine or arcane spell, armor used normally against incorporal creatures), ghost touch weapon (4th level divine ...

Having had a chance to take a look at Heroes of Battle , I'm not really sure what to say about it.

I purchased the book on the assumption that it would supply me with a framework in which to run a large scale battle where the focus falls upon the adventurers. Does this book achieve this? Yes. So ...

Frost and Fur is also worth a look. It came out at the same time as Frostburn and is very much along the same lines, with some alternative ideas.

[Edit: I should have mentioned, Frost and Fur also has some stuff on Ice Age Culture, amongst others.]

I played 1st edition for years and loved it and think the adventures were great - some of which are still better than most stuff around at the moment. But the mechanics of the 3rd ed. rules are so much better. I remember using The Wilderness Guide for thinks like swimming and the ...

Strangely, I just bought a copy of DL. While I was designing The Kyngdoms, I stayed clear of campaign settings, so in recent weeks I've just bought DL, Iron Kingdoms, Blackmoor and I've also picked up a copy of Conan. Might take me a while to digest them all, however :D

*cough*

That's not quite my reading of it. I don't see anywhere where it says that regaining hit points can only happens once per day. Polymorph says:

Upon changing, the subject regains lost hit points as if it had rested for the night...

So, my reading would be ...

I've just picked up a copy of Heroes of Battle. I haven't had a chance to have a detailed look yet, but at a casual glance it seems quite interesting. It basically sets up the battlefield so that adventures can take place while the battle unfolds around them. When I've read it in a bit more detail ...

Yep, an 18 Charisma can mean you're as ugly as sin, but have a fantastic personality!

However, I've known some people who also allowed warrior types to apply their Strength bonus to Intimidate checks, if they were trying to "rough" someone up a little.

I've just purcahsed a copy of Green Ronin's Trojan War and they have a chapter for mass combat. It's certainly a workable option and very simple to implement.
