I had the opposite problem, I found the ring but she wont give me the quest.
I thing the ring appeared in my journal, so maybe you have it already, check the quest objects pages.
Or simply just try talking to her again.

You only have to hit him with any of the laser things.
What i did was stand infornt of the thing as if to laser myself and my team.
Wait there and valdis will come to you. The tricky part is geting him to line up good. He has to be pretty close to it as it has limited range.

Has anyone got 6 mages to summon 6 monsters and therefore gone around with 12 on there team?

You might be lucky and have a back up from before you passed on the vile.

Funny thing about the hero amulet thats supposed to be all important.
Its not. you can sell it in fact.
The real Amulet that you need later in the game is firmly stamped in your quest log like like all other Main quest objects.
Dont worry about it.

Lasers only switch on when your whole team and summoned monsters gather around. Pretty annoying.

Press I to open your inventory
Press the button marked View
Click in the Summon Icon beside the
3D view of yourself.

You can also remove Buffs this way.

I had a similar problem. But there was only a few levels in the difference.
Whet i did was run around as the guy i wanted leveled up with guard orders on. This way the lower skilled would get a lot of hits in before the rest got involved. but in your case if your that high yourself that game will be ...
