I tried it with pressing the shift key with default keyboard settings.

the vail won't be placed, it's still in my inventory. I know about the other bug, but it's not that (yet).

I'm definitely at the right place. Checked it again with the walkthrough but the result stays the same.

I've got a problem. Last time I visited the naga-temple in order to get the relic and free Valdane. Now that I've visited Vartugg again I got the quest to place Valdane's blood on the unholy arc. Though I have it in my inventory, nothing happens when I try to place it. Loading a previous savegame ...
