Thats what we thought, must be another glitch. The Demon Door will not acknowledge the bandit at all. I wonder if wearing Jack's Mask prevents you from getting into this door? Both times my son has won this game he has always been evil and will not throw Jack's Mask into the lava ...

Eventually, when you find the right books, the teacher will except them. Don't think just because a couple of books are not excepted that you should give up on this quest. Look everywhere and buy books from vendors to complete this quest.
