I think you're all talking about separate things. The origial D&D was the weird little boxed set that is much different from the later AD&D rules. All of your classes were human and each of the races was its own separate class. Elves all got spell casting abilities, etc... It's been so long anyone I ...

You can talk to plenty of people in IWD. The critical difference, I would say, is the difference the dialog makes. Nothing you say in Icewind Dale really effects what happens in the game beyond the immediate encounter. It's more along the lines of trading banter before you kick a person's butt, or ...

I agree all around. One of the biggest joys of starting over at lvl 1 has been relearning all the low level spells. Playing SOA and TOB, you forget about most of the low level spells when you have an arsenal of six and seventh level spells to play with. In IWD I had to figure out how to use Color ...

Changing Party Formation
Does anyone know how to change Party Formation on the load screen? Every time I exit an area, the new screen loads with my characters in the order I created them. My mage winds up in the front ranks and my ranger and dwarf tank are in back. It's quite frustrating, especially since every time you ...

Summon a Nirushu or Hakesaar and sic it on Nalia. It will eat the D'arnise ring. I have no idea why, but it does (you might want to remove all of the other magic items from her though so). I can't even remember what it does (armor class and reisistances right?). I lost it when I first entered the ...

Doesn't a lich have better things to do than sit around on a sarcophagus in a cramped room waiting for some hapless adventure to come by so it can unload all the spells it learned a century ago. I mean they are super intelligent beings after all (former arch mages who wanted to live forever right ...

Lich in Crooked Cane
Have you guys tried walking out on the Lich in Crooked Cane in the city gates district? He was beating all over me when I decided to get the hell out. Not only he did he follow me into the tavern and start killing off the barmaids and drunkards, but his pit fiend followed me out into the city and ...

Imoen's kind of a project too. But I think she's worth it. Once she got to level seven spells she's started to prove her worth. For the longest time, her info said the most powerful enemy vanguished was a mephit. After the Underdark it was only a Mind Flayer. Then she blossomed. It reads Th'x (the ...

Why weapons should work differently?
I suppose you're right Path. It makes perfect sense. I was more lamenting the fact that you have to a very specific type of character to use the Zerth Blade effectively: One that only melees, one that doesn't switch weapons, and one that casts mage spells. The ...

D's Zerth Blade
I must say this has got to be the most frustrating weapon in the game. I was all excited when I downloaded the CE patch, only to discover the player has to have actively equiped to use the special abilities. I gave Imoen her next slot in Katana thinking it would be a great way to boost her spells ...
