I think it would be difficult for Bethesda NOT to include mods in Fallout 3, considering how successful they were with Oblivion. Especially since this seems to be a general trend with most RPG's, as there are a lot of people out there who would like to make their own user-created content. All you ...

The tools and "tech parts" are a good idea, especially if some of them would be tied in w/ your skill level. IE, you might find some sort of car part or computer part, but only be able to "identify" it or use it if your repair and/or computer skill is high enough. You could also expand this concept ...

Mods in Fallout 3

One thing I am eagerly anticipating with Fallout 3 (hopefully), is the ability to create/download user- or developer- created mods. I'm still on the fence about my willingness to pay for these as they are released ($ for horse armor?), however I do like the idea of being able to "customize" the game ...

I think it all comes back to the debate about whether or not Fallout 3 should be more real-time or more turn-based. Real-time people like mini-games, turn-based people like to just simply apply their skill. But why can't we just have both, like in Oblivion? In Oblivion, if you wanted to pick locks ...

Probably davidw89 has seen the pictures of "Van Buren"...
That's quite common mistake, since those are, after all, pictures of Fallout 3... just not the Fallout 3 what Bethesda is developing...

I know this is an old post, but I would just like to point out that I can't wait for Bethesda to start ...

First of all, Bethesda will NEVER provide a release date, not until it's ready to go gold. So don't even get your hopes up for Bethesda to provide one, cause it ain't gonna happen. Unless someone is able to quote a specific interview with a specific release date or delay, just assume sometime in ...

I like the idea of a repair minigame, however I think the problem with implementing it is that "repair" is a fairly broad topic.

Repairing a computer is different from repairing a gun, which is also different from repairing a car. As a result, I don't really see how it would be possible to have 1 ...

Obviously I'm no market analyst, so it's all just speculation, but slavery is one of those subjects that certain people get riled up about that wouldn't get upset about other things in the game.

So yes, I do believe that there are people who would choose not to buy the game if slavery is included ...

I think a multiplayer version of Fallout 3 would be great, for those who are really into multiplayer. It's never really been my thing though (I hate subscription fees for anything), so IMO... meh.

Hookers are great, but I'm not into the idea of having "relationships" (ie. getting married, etc.) in the game (or any game, for that matter). I say if you want a relationship, go find a GF/BF/right hand/left hand, or if you just won't be able to sleep until it makes its way into a video game, go ...

Just to try to steer this topic back to what it was originally intended to be, I'm anxiously looking forward to getting my copy of Oblivion here in a couple days so that I can see what kind of ideas Bethesda implemented into Oblivion and relate them in comparison to what I would like to see in ...

Yeah, we kinda got sidetracked on this topic.

Another thing I would like to see changed is the interface. One of the problems with isometric games is that they often seem to come with huge interfaces that clutter up the screen, which is yet another reason I'm a fan of the
1st person perspective ...

Here is what I'm envisioning so far:

A "radiation meter", which represents an item (a geiger counter) equipped in the player's inventory which would measure both the current rad levels in the player character's present location as well as total accumulated exposure to radiation by the player ...

I have a fairly dark, ironic, satirical sense of humor also. However, that doesn't mean that everybody else does (although they should  ).

Not sure if you picked up on this or not (I assume you did, but just in case), but my point wasn't that the inclusion of humor into the game should be ...

The rad counter is a good idea, but it seems like it could potentially be a little redundant since you would sort of be able to tell by the immediate drop in health points anyways, depending upon how the radiation would affect the player character.

IMO, instead of having a steady drop in health as ...

Well, the guy who designed the lockpicking mini-game in the latest Thief game is the same guy who did it for Oblivion (I think), or at least they hired some guy who was a developer for the Thief series or something to work on Oblivion, so if he's still working for Bethesda then it wouldn't be much ...

I think RPG's should strive to implement ways for skills to be as interactive as possible, even to the point of including a "mini-game" as a way for the player to demonstrate their own deftness at the particular skill, if possible (or necessary).

Some skills (such as repair, for instance) tend to ...

Yeah, IMO there should definitely be some quest(s) involving searching for a hazmat suit in order to enter one or more areas. It beats the standard "find the key" quests, since the item you're looking for actually has a use once you've entered the new area.

I also think that variations in the rad ...
