Sorry for a rather late reply, but that's only possible if you call your custom character O#NELLA, for example, and edit her with Near Infinity, so her dialogue and script file are the same as the mod's Nella's. So, only available to those who know how to mod.

But there are alternate classes ...

I am happy to announce that your old BG1 companion, Coran, thief, archer, romantic and wyvern hunter(and a hopeless womanizer!), is now available in BG2, as well. A full friendship path, banters with all Bioware BG2 NPCs, player-initiated dialogue, ToB content, and in the next version of Crossmod ...

One more thing:

Version 9 of Xan BG2 NPC features crossmod banters for the upcoming Blades of Brynnlaw mod, and for the released and well-known Tales of the Deep Gardens, Tower of Deception and Assassinations.

Xan BG2 NPC v9 has a full French translation. Also, a minimod with a French soundset has been released for French players.

Dungeon Crawl v5 is now more compatible with the Big World Project, and features an updated Italian translation.

(Belated) Thank you for the compliments, and - version 2 is now available.

- Added subtitles to all five soundsets
- Added a hotkey fixer. Very rarely during a game a party member dies and "loses" his dialogue file. If your game crashed during a dialogue, reload, select each party member in turn ...

- An Italian translation, thanks to ilot;
- Minor corrections.

DavidW and Nythrun have answered the call to rescue Unfinished Business. Their new version addresses some long-standing bugs and concerns. V18 also includes a new Italian translation.

V4 fixes the issue with "disappearing" theatre in the Five Flagons. Now you can travel downstairs and find the actors there at any time.

I like IWD with IWD NPC, love BG1 with Tutu and BG1 NPC... but I still like BG2 the best, even without the mods. The plot is brilliant, and it's worth a lot.

I usually play with very few mods installed: Banter Pack, Flirt Pack, BG2 Tweaks, an NPC or two, and some of my own mods(otherwise why would I be writing them?). I prefer mods that blend seamlessly with the original game.
