Look in the dinning room down stairs. Under the table theirs a rug with paint smears. Thats your final clue.

I cant believe you guys havent figured this out yet. You can pick items (and place them in cases) By pressing and holding LB. Hope that helps. And yeah, It can be a pain to get it just right but w/e.
