How do you know that he won't send the recommendation? Did you start fingers of the mountain part II? Where Earana tells you to steal the book back from Tekeeus' room? If you have started Part II, I would suggest finishing it. Otherwise, let me know.

I'm more worried about not being able to remove the ring (along with other 'quest' items) from my inventory

The poor, widely feared NPCs that get slaughtered with a single Immolating Blast. The epic fight ends instantaneously :laugh:

Where can I get the spell to summon a Lich?

When I try to capture a Dremora Lord's Soul (which I summon) with a Grand Sould Gem, it tells me that no soul gems are large enough. So, I got the Azura's Star, and try to capture its soul. I get the same message. Is there anything I can summon (I have 100 Conjuration) that has a grand soul?

If you finish the Dark Brotherhood quests and become the rank of Listener, you are given a Black Hand Hood and Robe, which have similar enchantments to the Shrouded armour but better. In my opinion, they look much better than the Shrouded armour :)

I managed to find a Daedric Helmet (along with my first set of boots, cuirass and greaves) during one of the fighters guild quests when I was around level 20, but I haven't found any gauntlets ever on both my lvl 26 and my lvl 34.
