certain items have "grants skill x" as a property and i'm trying to figure out exactly what they do. i have a character that is a spirit/storm with death ward level 1; when i equip an item that grants death ward, the level doesn't change. now, i also have an item that grants armour handling ...

two quick questions:

1. do pets cause any xp rewards to be reduced/shared?

2. with shields, what does the damage indicate (not x% to block y damage). do shields actually cause damage?
