You have to click very close to the edge of the screen, the top part.
If you get close enough you'll see the patch of clear ground, click it and the character should make there own way there.

I can't seem to walk there. The farmland area doesn't allow my characters to go east. The bridge area doesn't allow me to go north if I am on the east side of the river. The bandit's camp allows me to go north, but it doesn't let me get to Ulgoth's.

HLA question
I noticed that the level HLAs are given is incorrect in the manual (even for single class characters). Is there an easy way to know when HLAs are given? If not, are there any accurate charts?

To get protection from confusion/stun/mind magic etc - you need the hardly ever seen green jemstone ring (one of a kind and you can't make it yourself either or at least i don't think so if you want the one that actually works and protects continuously) - very hard to get and/find since there is ...

The MP saves are in the {BG Directory}\mpsave\ directory and the single player saves are in the {BG Directory}\save\ directory. Just copy them to your desktop (or any temporary location). Reinstalling won't cause any problems if all you do is change the install size.

I still think I would try a Fighter/Thief and a Cleric/Illusionist as I suggested in the BG1 thread, but a Cleric/Ranger and a Fighter/Illusionist should do very well if you use all of their tricks. I tried this combo twice in BG1 and once in BG2. It's very, VERY borring for the Fighter/Thief. The ...

I like BG2 better:
-The "main plot" is MUCH longer (timewise)
-The "extras" are longer and more interesting
-More complex battles because of the increase in number of spells, kits, and items...the increased complexity makes strategy/planning more fun
-More interesting battles (dragons, liches, mages ...
