Isn't it that in BG rangers get a hidden bonus to bows because they cannot use two weapons?

I always play cRPG games as a mage so Dynaheir fits me best as a suplement spellcaster (and she comes with Minsc that I tend to take along). I never really liked the idea of dual classing Imoen because of this. Is it worth it? Because in BG2 she is dualled anyway I think I will grab a second thief ...
