Ah ha! I found a priest on that level. I paid him 2200 to resurrect the dead character and he came back with all his gear I saved. The guy is now alive in the other saved games. Hurray.

And yes it WAS the other games as well. Thanks for your time.

In Dragons Eye level 2 one of my characters got jumped by a phase spider and poiosoned to death very quickly. When I went back to my previous save game he is greyed out there too. I checked others and he seems to now be dead in all my saves (greyed out).
