I don't think the voices you hear in the warrens are coming from inside your head, it's the nosferatus who are hiding and trying to trick you. You hear the voices no matter what clan your vampire belongs to.
Everybody hears those, they freak me out a little. I wonder what they're saying.

I quite enjoyed playing as a Malkavian, only problem I had was I offended Jeanette very early on in the game by saying something mean without realising it ... I didn't read it as an insult!!

To my knowledge, you can't while you're playing except while dancing, but you can by bringing up the character screen.
