I think you get stoneskin off the illusionist tent quest where u get aerie

maybe all his equipment is created after the image is created, so the amulet is there but for the brief time it wasnt there he loses the spells

and why dont u just use 2 spells from each lvl before casting image, that way u dont lose anything!

or take the amulet off in shadowkeeper and add 2 ...

its prolly cuz his amulet gives him 2 extra spells per lvl and it dissaperes when he makes an image of himself? I dont know the rules for images and items but this seems the most logical answer.
