i am not sure, try!
try SKing it from the inventory page and assign a weapon to the hand slot.
this might mean however that you won't be able to remove the weapon then...
just try it...

ok, ok...

Guys, i have to admit i am surprised, the assassin dualled to cleric doing THAT GARGANTUAN amount of damage makes him definitely the ultimate backstabber, and we could close the debate here... BUT

as i said it wouldn't fit comfortably in my game style...

Also, I'd like to add that Blades are much better than Skalds. ;)

Well let us examine that claim for a moment...
Skald Song is REALLY HELPFUL, especially the enhanced skald song (it's probably from a mod)...

so ok you would go for a multiclass as opposed to a dual class. i might agree on that, but what about the mighty KAI ability? consider also i would use this guy as a backstabber and archer kinda guy...
so maybe yeah an elven multiclass would do.
so i would like to hear more about who is best between ...

i had Valygar during my third time (yes, that makes me an amateur) through the game and i really liked having a backstabbing dastard as he is! so now i have a question for my next time through...

what i'll do is i'll do every side quest before having him join my party and then... i 'll do the planar sphere with him. then i'll park him somewhere, then i'll go back looking for him if i feel i'm missing him...

so, after careful thinking, my team look like this:

Ranger/Cleric (never tried, dual wield Crom, druid spells)
Saerileth (neve tried)
Kelsey (never tried)
Keto (never tried)
Jan (tried but hey he is the best thief)

this alone is a nice team for my tastes.

ok let me get this straight...

Dragons, if the AI was proper, such as that of a DM, could do some serious whacking... in my first gone through i beat Firkraag with my party after trying a few times... probably Insect Plague helped at the time...
