I have indeed managed a backstab of 2406 (no typo!) on an unarmed Sarevok, although this was a critical hit it was not quite with the optimum equipment, so higher damage is possible.

I think a dual class character would be fun in a smaller party like that. Start with an assassin then dual to a fighter. Your assassin can do the ranged/backstab stuff, then you can add grandmastery in your ranged weapon of choice once you've dualled to a fighter, when you get your assassin levels ...

Assassin dual classed to cleric is the correct answer. Depending on party make-up and how cheesy you want to be (core rules, no mods!) you can do upwards of (spoiler) 2400 !!! points of damage with a single backstab :mischief:

You might want to consider installing the refinements mod, which makes the choice between dual and multi class fighter/druids more interesting. The dualled character gets the full selection of druid HLAs (including some new spells), while the multi classed character gets some druid and some figher ...

Am I allowed to bring Refinements monks into the monk vs. berserker/barbarian debate? Or would that just make it all too one sided?
