Thanks for your replies; they are much appreciated. Fable, thanks for the link. Before I install the game I am doing some indepth research on what mods I'd like to add to the experience.

A question on the Visual Pack XT: Should that be the very first one that I should apply and then lay over with ...

I couldn't agree more with you Ferrick; i still haven't given up the hope of actually seeing a BG 3 :P

I think two big sticking points are the licensing of the game and also the fact that D&D is now changing to version 4 and everything that I have read and discussed it is essentially a brand new ...

I think a big reason that BG1 and 2 are still going strong is because the RPG community is begging for more RPG gameplay that the series offers -- and yet gaming companies have yet to respond.

If they ever do come out with a BG3 and it is on par with the first two I believe the game will be a ...

Texture Packs, Mods and the Bloodmoon Patch: A Few Questions

Is it possible or even advisable to install more than one texture pack that deals with landforms/geography? I am looking at the Visual Pack XT but I also see there is the one entitled Swampy Swamp, plus other flora and fauna texture offerings as well. The first time I played through Morrowind I ...

What galrean said. I just built a system over a month ago and another 2 in the last two years so I have done a TON of research and I can tell you the 8800 video card is far above the 8600 in performance and the good news is prices are coming down significantly.

Also, Xandax rightly points out a ...

I've looked through those strategy guides and though they are good and packed with useful information be prepared to read those maps with a magnifying glass or a really good pair of glasses. The print is small and the maps are not the clearest because of the size of the font and the shading ...

He was having serious health issues for a number of years and it isn't surprising but it is still sad and a big loss.

Wow! That is one massive fix list! With those massive number of bugs it reminds me of Atari's RPG Temple of Elemental Evil and the bug fest that monstrosity was. When G3 first came out I was excited but after reading all the bugs and the disappointing ending (some stated that the ending felt rushed ...

Do you think it could run on a PC that runs DII, and other games like that then?

Well I ran NWN1 on my old Pentium 3 system that has an ATI Radeon 9200 128 meg card and 512 megs of PC133 SDRAM and it ran quite fine. I did have serious slowdowns as you can imagine when really large battles took ...

Gothic I, II, III Bundled Together - Worth Playing?

Hey, all. I was over at Best Buy on Monday and I noticed these 3 games bundled together in one box. I have never played before but I have been interested from time to time so I did some researching. This is what I have found so far. Please correct as needed and give your own experiences.

1. That 1 ...

I'd love to go back and install the game just to take advantage of the community gaming goodness. But when I built my socket 939 system I installed an ATI X800GTO and unbeknownst to me the X800 card architecture and NWN1 don't play well at all. After a full install the game hangs right as you are ...

That is quite significant because a number of people are. There is a thread at AnandTech.com under their PC Gaming forum that has been following this issue.

Ulfang, have you found the need to patch? I am reading that a good number of people are having serious stability issues expecially the Vista crowd though the latest patch is for both XP and Vista.

Also, I have read that the camera is not very stable in itself and that the load times really detract ...

Great thread, Tricky, because you started what I was going to ask; very timely. I, too, want to play this game because it looks like finally an RPG with a complete story line and significant plot. I checked out the trailers on Gamespot and this game really impresses me.

Right now I have an Athlon ...
