Late reply, I know, but I didn't see this thread till today.
About exporting/importing to get around losing abilities or that ability point... That only works if you're playing a multiplayer game, right? Is there any way to get around that stuff in a single-player game?

Hmm... The thought had occurred to me that the weapon could've been broken before I got to it... I didn't toss any fireballs or other magic around in there, but Ilyich's mage friends did, so maybe they hit the box. But I could swear I emptied it out right after that battle and didn't find anything ...
