my character has some type of disks over his head and butterflies flying around every time he stops and stands still. What is up with this and how do I get rid of it?

That is what I ended up doing......make my run and just as my character started going up on the curbing....I jumped! Finally made it across.

Now I am stuck in the Water Jumping puzzle in the Shadow Ruins.

I have gotten 2 of the deamon stones from the west side of the room with the collapsing bridges, but I can't get to the one on the east side or the north west side, what am I doing wrong? I can't jump over some of the collapsed sections, even slowing down time.
