Is there any way to set hot keys, for health, mana and spells?

I have NWN2 and it runs real slow, my pc is pen4 dual core, with 2 gig of memory and 260 hard drive. 512mb video card. all my other games run fine, but this one runs slow and sluggish. is there a patch i need to download?

i'm looking to find out how to use magic skills, my game did not come with a manual.

how do i use the skills i've learned. i tried high liting them and pressing a function key, like you do for the postions. But it doesn't work.
