Not that I've used many pets, but one to note is the Mythrilhorn. Good armor, good attack. Also raises armor of the party. The more interesting part is that it auto-casts enrage, which is, as far as I can tell, identical to the melee power of Provoke.

DS2 is the only game I've ever had update/patch issues with on this system. Edit: I rummage through my old games regularly and reinstall them just to re-play. They've all updated w/ no problems. Not a HUGE number of games (4-5), but most over 5 years old. Ah, Dungeon Keeper 2 ...

This should be unrelated, but it's now installed on a SATA drive, whereas previously I'd used an IDE drive. That should all be transparent to programs, though.

Installed version is 2.0. I can't update to 2.2 for some reason. I run the 2.2 patch and NOTHING happens. No error messages or anything else. Double-click the patch (gpgupdate.exe), a couple seconds of hourglass, and ... nothing. Which prevents me from using any useful mods, including the "broken ...
