I have the same problem but let me give you some info.
My pc is brand new with quad processor,9800GT graphic card 2Mb ram,no internet connection and XP prof. with latest directx.
I start the game in best graphics and best sound and it doesnt lag at all and everything seem good.But when half an hour ...
