I have same Problem
It was great reading this thread -I'm stuck in the same place - can't wait to try hitting shift multiple times and/or being aware that a paltform does come up but u cant' see it.

First mage guild quest
The first guild quest as a mage is to go to Devil's Marsh and return a staff to Rianne. How does one go there ?- I see Devils' Marsh on the world map - it looks very far away. I have no clue how to procede - any help appreciated.
