koz-ivan and Gruntboy are totally right. InfiniteNature,
if you are truly just needing some non magical daggers, swords, and such you will get them within the first 10 minutes of gameplay, actually if you have a high charisma character in the first 10 seconds after beginning to walk. Your thread ...

If you are a bit confuse in the wood, the best think to do, would be to have a character bearing the wilderness lore skill. He will tell you which direction to go. But certain paths will not open until you fulfil a specific quest. The west path always leads you out of the wood. As far as I remember ...

Thanks a lot to both, Fable and Skooter. I have to say I have all the BG series, that's the reason why I bought IWD2. I like the game system and I know it quite well. But I also have to say that these games are far away from Fables claim for what a RPG should be, and I totally agree with him. Even ...

I am sorry for what you say Aranan, it looks you are stubborn as it can be. If rules are created is to make an order and balance. If you are upset with your interpretation of the rules and how they reflect it in the game, then complain to Black isle, do not buy their games or just programme your own ...

Nope, never. I do not think though any of the Baldurs gate games were ever Role playing games, were they? I was always more into strategy war games and I like this Black isle series for the challenge with the Dungeon & Dragon system which is quite scientific, hence quite strategic also. Anyway that ...

Hey Fable, I just explained it! But you are right it could have been called in a different way. I am really sorry alignment does not work the way you wanted it to be, but for restrictive purposes and game balance at least clearly accomplish its objectives, you have to agree on that (call it class ...

Alignment obviously exists in this game and is one important way to restrict the character flexibility keeping game balance. As for the possibility to use certain equipment or to mix certain classes (e.g.: you can not have a Bard taking advantage of the charisma saves by double-classing to a Paladin ...

Are you willing to change the ability points? if so, using the races you have chosen:
1. I thing your Paladin has too much intelligence, I would reduced it to 3. Increase 2 points of dexterity for the AC (full plate allows you 1 Dexterity bonus) 2 more for strength (melee unit). Reduce 1 from Wisd ...

Yes, there is a -8 penalty (quite a lot) when close fighting with ranged weapons, reduced to -4 if you chose the precise shot feat. But in any case when your archer is in melee you can change your bow to melee weapons, like small swords if you took advantage of the weapon finesse feat (which allows ...

IWD2 alternative party
Sorry if it is a bit long.
I read some threads talking about party conformations, with multiclass characters, pure classes, doubtful about tanks, rangers, etc.
One possible strategy which I did not read about yet is delivering damage with tanks using magic mainly defensively by increasing character ...

Patch 2.01
I have very recently received by mail my copy of IWD2. The software version of my copy is 2.01, now, the question, does anyone know if this means the patch 2.01 is included already in this version of the game? it sounds like yes but I am not quite sure. Thanks
