Lately there has been more 'takin care of baby' rather than RP'ing; but I have been quite active and will hopefully be quite active once more in the coming spring.

It's the prestige class Harmonium Peacekeeper. It gives the ability Special Mount on level 1 and then states that Paladin levels stack with Harmonium Peacekeeper levels for Special Mount purposes. It then gives an example of how this works with a level 5(or smthn) fighter/level 3 paladin/level 1 HP ...

Why not? He is a level 16 paladin for Special Mount purposes, and I can't see why the elephant would 'cost' more than 5 levels, i.e be available from level 10 and upwards as a paladin's mount.

Ignoring the fact that the character has 5 ECL more than you, you can try to get ways to boost your anti-SR powers. Spell Penetration is a feat that helps.
But by far the easiest way of killing him ...

Heroes of Battle, as GawainBS said if you want to roll the dice.
Personally I just go with the flow, deciding who'll win depending on obvious strengths, and allowing the players to shift the tide of battle through individual deeds and self-sacrifice where fitting.

Ye, I'm reasonably sure that unless he suffers a stroke or smthn he'll refuse Vow of Poverty flat out. Especially since the Elephant mount will get 17 HD for my level 12 character. Giving it Vow of Poverty will make it...insane.

I did add the Celestial Mount feat from Book of Exalted Deeds which ...

Does anyone know of any ways to get a kickass mount in 3.5?
I know that there are several feats that will allow my character to be more awsome while seated in the saddle, but I'm talking about ways to boost the mount itself.
