I finally beat it w/ that character, using some cheapness that someone posted over at Bioware's forums. I tanked up w/ some sort of Mandalorian armor that was +13 (I can't use stasis field while wearing it, but that didn't work on Malak anyways), switched my off-hand weapon from the ancient Wookie ...

Aaah, that was my problem. I don't have a very high persuasion/charisma so my lie wasn't successful. I got that character all the way to Malak, but now he's whippin me consistently so I've started a whole new (and better planned) character to beat the game with finally.

Yah, I know where their compound is, I just couldn't find one to talk to. Finally figured out that if you talked to The One first, you don't get to talk to an Elder until The One is dead.
