Yes, I found it irritating when my helpful hireling continually sold his shortbow to the blacksmith. The 4 GPs he got for it was not enouogh to repurchase it back. I quickly got into the habit of removing the bow before selling items.

You _can_ rest in the yellow areas ... there is just a chance that you will get attacked by wandering monsters. Now, I rested in a yellow area 4 times (trying to regain cleric spells) and got attacked each time. So perhaps there is a better chance of meeting w monsters in some locations/times. I ...
