Specialization?

If you mean Specialization, you're right, 'cause it always hits and you'll get a +2 bonus on damage, but you nedd proficiency with the weapon, wasting a feat slot, 'cause it's a requirement for the specialization...

3E...

I must say that I (unfortunately), started playing AD&D too late. It was 4/5 months ago. I almost didn't use the 3E rules... maybe for 3 weeks, than me and my friends "upgraded". I didn't know that feat, never heard of it before. about the rules, i thought wizards would rule called shots ...

and they will...

they will find a way to make balanced rules, you'll see! if they made up rules for everything else, why not for called shots?

yeah... I know.

That great troll wouldn't be so strong if he went blind with an arrow in the head, just because a wizard had a true strike potion in the pocket. I understand your point of view, but still the could make balanced rules for this, couldn't they?

of course.

of course the game isn't 100% real! but, if you read the coup de grace's description it says that "a dagger through the eye it's still a dagger through the eye"! so... an arrow in the head it's an arrow in the head and a sword in the arm it's still a sword in the arm... makes sense to ...

that's up to you...

so, you want a game in a city, full of gangsters, or drug dealers, where you have to be a good citizen, or join them? that would be realistic to you? iot wouldn't have the same impact. if you get tha magic out of D&D, all the rest is a real representation of our world ...

magic?

magic isn't unreal... or do you think it is? walking slowly on difficult terrain, getting sick/dying because of the weather/sneak attacks/... all this makes perfect sense, it's a relation to reality, just as the zombie's immunity so sneak attacks. where have they got their vital parts ...

i understand your point...

but still it would give realism to the game, that's why rules are made in D&D... to be both just and real. don't you agree?

maybe...

I don't know if I agree with that... c'mon, a goblin it's just a goblin, you can't level it up too much. when you see a cat... you know it's fast and agile, but it hasn't much strength. the same happens with a goblin, or an orc... you can't make it much different.

Munchkins?

I'm sorry, but i was "listening" to your conversation all about Munchkins... and what's a munchkin? I'm sorry, but I live in the other side of the world, and I don't know what it is, but i think that above all, the group is what matters, not a single character.
