If you want to go through BG1 first, then you might want to try. Ranger/Cleric (would work well with Imoen Thief/Mage and warrior Sarevok in TOB)....

No you can't unfortunately. The engine running BG 1 isn't able to cope with sorcerers, and a few other things.
