Kangax second form error

Ok I'm new to gamebanshee because I need help with this error.

Baldur's Gate 2 Kangax killing error.

Ok so this is my first time ever trying the kangax quest, and so I looked it up on how it would go, and I got the golden parts, stole his ring, killed him so he could reach his next form a floating skull, but his first set of spells messes the whole game up and exits the game and closes it, I tried new directX I also tried fiddling with my graphics options, and I really have no idea why this is happening, oh yeah and I also tried getting a patch for it.

So far, I can leave the tomb and he hasn't followed me... so I can continue on through the game without a problem from him, but I want to finish him off... and well this maybe be greedy of me but I want that second ring x]

Since I've only tried him once and I'm a level 9 paladin I kind of cheated on his first form and wasted his spells by going in and out of the tomb 'til he had none, also casted protections spells so his spells were gone and wasted, then I killed his first form. I'm thinking if I still want to kill him with this error I'm going to have to waste his spells again be leaving the tomb asap before the game crashes XD but that would take forever plus his next spells are pretty fast.

Help? please?

First of all, this is BG 1 forum, not bg 2 forum.
Second of all, the battle with Kangax is at times buggy. Is it possible that by accident you still were attacking the first form when the 2nd was already apearing?

Anyway, my advice is that you're best to wait until you can finish him in 1 fight, atleast to be on the safe side.

Yeah I realized it was a Baldur's gate 1 forum, but I didn't see BG2 and I except the throne of Bhaal forum, but I don't have throne of Bhaal, just Shadow's of Amn if I didn't see it it was purely by accident/confusion.

Kangax's first form was actually killed, it disappeared, and then there was nothing and he was talking to me about how I killed him and really released him and how I'd be the first to see his true power... oh no the power to shut off my game!

but yeah his second form started animating and the skull popped out and as a test run I let him attack me to see what happened and then the game shut off.

So even if the first form wasn't gone, I'd still have to deal with the second form casting fast spells that shut off my game. But so far I saved the game as he was animating the second time and tried it again and I was able to escape the tomb, and I could just go in and out wasting his spells..... anyone know how many spells he has or is it infinite? or maybe just like a hundred or so... yeah I wanna kill him that bad I go through with it at least 'til I hit a potential spell that wont shut off the game.

I think you'll have to leave Kangax alone, since it seems that area is corrupted with you. Do you have a save from before going into the tomb of the lich? If so, load that and try again.

Yeah I do have a save from before I tried the kangaxx quest but I don't believe I have to reload because I can leave the area just fine and he hasn't followed I even left and bought some things form a store... but I haven't left the docks yet I should try that first and if it doesn't work I'll go back form that old save then.
