Hi guys im playing a 40/31/46 FMT and before anyone asks, yeah thats a lot of xp i thought it couldnt be possible to reach that much but i did. Only patches im using are g3 fixpack and these tweaks: grandmastery, xp cap, triple class hla tables. Im equipped with carsomyr +6; amulet of power; ring of gaxx; ring of prot. +3; montolios cloak; inertial belt; vecna; helm of balduran; boots of speed. I also have others equips stored.
Now lets go to the point, i beat the five on insane and it was ok, but the last part of the last battle is a pain, im talking about the moment when amelyssan sumon the five again, i cant stand a chance. Please help, whats the best way to finish them?
Final Battle - Ascension
Well, my friend, I see you have a mighty overpowered character, so it will be no trouble to beat this group with whatever tactic you want. Here are some suggestions&tips:
Mel cannot be harmed before all of the Five(&Sarevok, if she summoned him) are dead. Slain. She will appear and join the fight immediately after the 1st one is slain, and will summon demons to overwhelm you. Some of her Demons use Secret Word, some Breach, she uses Pierce Shield, Breach, Timestop, etc.
The cheesiest tactic of them all is creating multiple (20 or more) Planetars via Projected Images or Simulacra(I think that your Simulacrum may be able to cast lvl 9 spells, but I don't know for sure). Planetars won't be able to hurt Mel with her natural immunity to +3 weapons, but will evaporize everyone else, leaving you to deal with Mel only.
Yaga-Shura may seem most difficult to beat. Either use Haer'dalis' sword Chaos to quckly kill him by draining him of Dexterity, or use Poison weapons, or Ice damaging spells/wands, or multiple Contagions(again, attribute drain) after first shooting Greater Malinson, Doom and Chant to lower his saving throws by 7 points. Mindflayer's Intelligence drain doesn't work on him so don,t try it, however it works just fine against Gromnir and Sarevok. In a case that you don't like these tactics, the Flail of Ages is the most convenient weapon against him, dealing 6 points of damage on hit, with Scarlet Ninja-to off, for extra attacks and Poison damage possibility.
Keep your ProMW up against Illasera's arrows, or use the Reflection shield.
Use your Projected Images to refresh your spells/HLAs via Wish, although, frankly, I don't find it necessary in your case. Protect your PI via Spell Immunity Divination and Abjuration, else they will be dispelled.
If Balthazar is against you, kill him first under ProMagicWeapons, because he's really annoying, and has Dragon Fist(dispels all buffs on successful melee hit).
For more power(overkill) use Improved Alacrity, and then activate different warrior/thief HLAs and mage spells in a second. For instance, against well protected Mellisan, your F/M/T with Robe of Vecna and Amulet of Power, may cast Improved Alacrity, Ruby Ray of Reversal(0 casting time, removes Spell Trap), Breach(0 casting time, removes Absolute Immunity), Protection from Magic Weapons (0 casting time), Critical Strike, Greater Whirlwind Attack, Assassination, equip himself with Staff of the Ram, and if he had previously consumed a Storm Giant Potion, this means 10 Critical Backstabbing attacks with str 24(although, in my experiences with G3 mod, there was some problem with combining Critical+Backstabbing damage, usually the 2nd one was neglected).
I suggest you have auto-pause on spell-cast active (in game options). If not, do it now.
Ascension Mellisan is immune to magical damage. She, however, is vulnerable to elemental damage (Fire spells are most powerful from elemental spells, so use them), after lowering her resistance first.
Her Breach is the most dangerous spell you'll encounter in case of being F/M, because her aura is permanently cleansed, and she may shoot many Pierce Magic and Breach spells in a couple of rounds. Spell Shield is the only real protection in this case, use it against enemy Breach.
Your other option is activating a scroll of Protection from Magic, but in this case your protective buffs will be dispelled and you won't be able to cast spells(except from reading spell scrolls). If you insist on being protected from her attacks, then do this: activate ProMagic scroll before summoning of the Five, then on top of it cast(from scrolls) Protection from Magical Energy, Fire, Acid, Cold, Electricity, make sure you have enough Hardinesses, equip Reflection Shield, put on Jansen's Adventurewear,Defender of Easthaven, the Roranarch's Horn, The Belt of Innertial barrier, and charge in melee, using Improved Haste from items and scrolls). With your Hardinesses, your F/M/T will have permanent 85% physical resistances and immunity to missiles with the Shield).Kill Balthazar first with ProMW scrolls and GWW attacks. Kill Illasera and the 2 Fallen Solars next, and you will fear Dispelling arrows no more. Then equip a nice melee weapon main, move Defender to off-hand, and kill the rest of the enemies. Your character will not only be immune to Crushing attacks, but will instead heal from them, and most of the newly-arrived demons have Crushing attacks. Yaga-shura has crushing attack as well.
This way, your character will be nearly immune to enemy attacks for 10 turns, but watch out, because afterwards, all of his protections begin to fade and he becomes vulnerable, so it's best to use Improved Alacrity and your many spells in this moment.
If you have any more questions, describe your tactic and I will try to help.
